Body

With a look that has been called a cross between Christie Brinkley and Heidi Klum, the Scandinavian beauty of Solveig Walkling is backed up by a sharp intellect and creative spirit. The accomplished international model and journalist is educated in politics, languages and journalism, fluent in English, German and French and as confident in front of the camera as behind the viewfinder.

Her parallel careers have seen the long-legged blonde beauty travel around the world, modelling for brands such as Bonds, Berlei, David Jones and Sunseeker. Loved by clients for her girl-next-door persona mixed with beach babe looks and professionalism, Sol has become a regular on TV shows, including Today Tonight and Mornings with Kerri-Anne.

Popular with swimwear brands, she has graced innumerable magazine editorials, catalogue spreads, covers and in-store posters in shops around Australia, including the well-known Bonds “Hoodie” campaign at Myer. But her most successful campaign must be the 2009 Special K New Year’s Revolution on bus stops and telephone booths which made a comeback around Australia in 2010 and again in New Zealand in 2011 and led to her being cast in the brand’s cereal packs Jeans Challenge.

Her love for sports and appearances in television commercials for Body & Soul magazine in 2009 and Burgen Bread and Fernwood gyms in 2010 as a fitness model have given Sol’s career a new direction. Having performed various sports at a high level, the European beauty currently runs, sails, swims, cycles, does yoga and trains others in Pilates.

Sol feels strongly about representing a healthy body image, being involved with local charities and her community and is a passionate ambassador for The Butterfly Foundation.

    Hi Sol,

you are so inspiring. I came to your blog through modelmayhem and looking through all your amazing photos made me think of approaching an agency myself – again, after having done a few years from 16 but then never being skinny or confident enough to pursue it. Would you have any recommendations where to go? I am located in Brisbane.

Have a brilliant week and an abundance of fantastic jobs,

    Lisa

      Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your message. It’s great to hear you drew some inspiration from my photos.

There are two main plus size agencies in Australia, Bella Models and BGM. They’re both in Sydney. I’d suggest you go to their websites, have a look at which one you prefer and get in touch via e-mail – submitting photos (headshot and full length, fairly natural) – and ask them whether they know of any local Brisbane agencies. (I’ll also ask my agent today, if she knows any and will e-mail you, if yes.)

Good luck with it. Hope to hear from you again to see how you fared.

      Sol

    Lisa,

Try Dally’s. They’ve got a plus board too!
